Our knowledge of roses didn't just start over night. The Boerlage family have a background of roses that goes back 4 generations. We migrated from Aalsmeer in Holland back in 1971. At that time, the Boerlage family were very much involved in just cut roses in Holland. Peter and Trish Boerlage started producing some potted garden varieties as a bit of a side line from the cut rose farm that belonged to Peters parents back in 1997. They could see a bit of a market for rose plants as regular people that were coming in for bunched roses were also asking about buying bush roses for their gardens and thats where it all began.

Within 3 years, Pete and Trish bought a rundown rural property just 2 kms from the original Healesville Rose Farm site. Since then, we have now grown the business to what it is today boasting over 600 varieties of roses and over 100,000 rose plants growing on that property today.

We now service most of Australia all year round with bare rooted and potted roses of all styles and colors. We always had a good knowledge gained from 4 generations of growing indoor roses for the cut flower industry so with that up our sleeve, we stepped into the retail potted sector. We always knew that it is a lot harder to get roses to grow well in an unnatural environment such as a glasshouse. To get roses to grow well in those conditions takes a lot of knowledge so when we started producing rose plants for the home gardener, we were able to bring across vital information on getting roses to really flourish in gardens.

Getting the new property laid out to what it is today took time as the business was built from the ground up and had to pay for itself as we went along. We now have the infrastructure along with the knowledge to produce, what we believe, are the best rose plants that money can buy in Australia.

 

Why buy of us

When you look at the preparation we put into all of our rose plants, right down to choice of virus free rootstock and the way in which we dispatch our roses. Let me just put a bit of emphasis on that. When you buy roses, its not just the size of the plant that matters. Even though we have large sized rose plants - its the process from digging the roses and how the roses are handled in the winter months before they get to you which makes a great plant. Its not a secret what we do. Have a look at the way our roses take off and the amount of flowers they produce. And most of all - they wont sucker up and they will certainly be the variety which you paid for.

Not all Icebergs, Double delights, Mister Lincoln or any rose varieties for that matter, from rose grower to rose grower, are the same. Infact, quality of plants varies a lot. Some may argue that we are not the cheapest. Thank god for that we say - but remember that you are buying quality 2 year old rose plants. Not yearlings or cuttings. We are a mid range price with the highest level of quality.
